The Grammys

The year 2020 was great for music. Many new artists emerged while multiple established artists released even more incredible music. This all leads to an interesting Grammy’s event filled with incredible performances and surprising winners (and losers).

This year’s Grammys were loaded with many memorable performances. Dua Lipa’s performance of her song “Levitating” featuring DaBaby stood out and surprised many. She broke out into a series of dances, something she had not been known to do. Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak singing their newly hit song “Leave the Door Open” was also a crowd-pleaser. Their performance did not disappoint, as usual, as Bruno and Paak used their calm voices to soothe the audience of artists. DaBaby’s and Roddy Rich's performance on their song “Rockstar” was also notable, as the artists used it to speak out against racial injustice. Other memorable performances included “DÁKITI” by Bad Bunny and Jhay Cortez, “Everything I Wanted” by Billie Eilish and FINNEAS, and “Watermelon Sugar” by Harry Styles.

Although the year 2020 was packed with many great songs, only a few could make their artists walk away with the sacred Grammy’s trophy. “Everything I Wanted” by Billie Eilish and FINNEAS won the record of the year award. “FOLKLORE” by Taylor Swift won the award for album of the year. “I CAN’T BREATHE” by H.E.R, which speaks out about the George Floyd murder, won song of the year. Megan Thee Stallion won the award for the best new artist.

Even after all the challenges 2020 presented, we were still able to see many great performances and artists getting the awards they rightfully deserved. I am excited to see what these artists are going to do next and if they will make a return to The Grammys in the future.
