Marvel Television: Agatha all Along

Truly magical and remarkable, this story has been exactly that. Jac Schaeffer created this series in the hopes of continuing the greatest live-action series made by Marvel, WandaVision. Kathryn Hahn has the role of Agatha. A witch without magic, without her book, without a coven. Her mix between comical television and action is phenomenal. She has an incredible ability of portraying a character with some kind of psychological problem. Agatha does this to try and hide her past, her decision, and as a struggle to not seem weak. A truly phenomenal and complex character to try and make.

The series starts with her, in her “distorted spell that Wanda cast in the end of WandaVision. She has to find a way to escape, but is caught in the middle of a chase for power. An unnamed teen is a fan of her, who chases the road for power. This benefits Agatha since she is powerless and needs to get back on top before the Salem 7 come for her (a group of evil witches). She is joined by a group of “mediocre” witches to go through the road and complete all its trials.

But the road isn’t what you may think. It is a test of mental strength and knowledge that you may not have. Agatha depends on these witches to be able to complete the task at hand and get her power. We see in episode 3, that the trial was a test on the witches’ “craft.” Specifically, a test on potion making. The episode results in a foreshadow of what can and may happen in the future while they are in the road; the result being death.

This series is a test for Agatha’s will to come back into what she was. But the end might not be what she seeks. For the end only gives you “what you need,” not what you want. Agatha’s desire for power may not be what she needs. She sacrificed so much, so many lives, a son, for her power. Is power then what she really needs? Scarlet Witch did not need power when she lost, look at where that drove her. She needed to accept, and that’s just what Agatha might face.

“Down the witches’ road” we go.
