It’s “truly beautiful and remarkable.” The Notebook story, by Nick Cassavetes is one for love and inspiration. The story dwells on the topic of forbidden love because of money. It shows controversy on the control that parents have on their child when letting them chase what they want or choosing the ones they should love. Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling impersonate the characters of Allie and Noah, a wise choice. I say that because not every actor can show the perseverance of love through the years (Noah) or show the desire of choosing their way (Allie). The Notebook is a story for those sobbers, for those who choose liberty in life and can relate to it.
I can't say that I kin to any of these characters, but there is this sense of fear to their situation. I fear that I must suffer the same with no hope. The fact that Allie suffered mentally with something similar to Alzheimer’s just makes me sorrowful. This sadness is not because I can relate to it but because of the fear that it can happen to my mom too. "Forgetting love," that is what I fear the most. If the one I sacrificed my life to, if the one I gave my life to forgets me, I don't know what I would do with myself. If my mother refuses to talk to me or have contact with me because she doesn't know who I am as her son, what kind of life would I live.
It is in the old Allie's fractured memory and insanity scenes that I cried the most. Because of my hope, because of the hope that her love conquers her mental state in the end. Maybe that's what happens when we ignore "what's in our hearts." When we ignore the desire of the heart, we forget what really matters, as proven in her story. "The desire of the heart" is what life is for. That is what we should chase, not what our parents want from us, or what life wants from us. True love is true love and nothing else. What would life be without joy, if that, in its essence, is what life is made up of.
The Notebook teaches the perseverance of love over everything in life. Over war, over evil mothers, over discontent, over medical conditions, and afflictions, over the mind's desire. Love always comes first. And in that last scene, when she remembers his lover and her desire for him, she is completed again. She is completed forever, in her silent death of love.
Not only is the movie of love ELITE but is sacred, sacred to the core of emotions-heart. Watch this movie and understand the value of love and its significance. This movie will impact those without love, without a purpose in life. Maybe it has magic, maybe not, all I know is that I wouldn't be the same person without Allie in my life.
